Almine Rech Brussels is pleased to present ‘Successo Evidente (Hidden Tracks)’ Jean-Baptiste Bernadet’s seventh solo exhibition with the gallery, on view from January 16 to March 1, 2025. How do you define success? The perennial question often associated with cheap self-help books and awkward job interviews looms large in the realm of painting. Indeed, not everyone likes to hear that some paintings ‘just happened’ like a lucky snapshot. If seamlessness can fascinate by suggesting painstaking work or the triumph of automation, there is something reassuring about visible traces of labour and frustration people like to know it didn’t come easy. In art, satisfaction is nothing unless you’re testing how little you can do and how bad you can make it, but these transgressions are short-lived.

In 2013 I visited St. Paul de Vence (France), and upon my returnI was motivated to pick up a paintbrush and I have never looked back. In 2016 I became a full-time painter after leaving the corporate world and spending three months at the artist residency La Macina di San Cresci, (Tuscany, Italy), this experience was life changing in many ways, personally and professionally. The vibration and energy itself played a big part in pursuing this new career path.

ARTIST: ANGÉLIQUE VIVRAN

Angélique Vivran, born in 1982 and lives in Le Havre. A self-taught artist, she has been painting since a very young age and made her public debut in 2023. She first star ted exhibiting her works in a gallery in Le Havre, followed by Paris, and finally Milan.
Her goal is to make her art known to as many people as possible. She finds refuge in abstract art and acrylic painting. She offers a palette of vibrant colors and doesn’t hesitate to shade and contrast her colors for an emotional result.

Oliva Seger is an extraordinary artist. Her artist statement explains everything excellently. The artist lets her art speak for itself; there is no need to attribute words to it, because it truly communicates something. Looking at her artworks, we really understand how words are often unnecessary.
The use of these strong colors, the high contrasts, describe the energy that Olivia conveys.

My name is Giada Paolicchi. I was born in Pisa in April 1998, and since I was a child, I have loved drawing. I was fascinated by colors, shapes, and shades. Growing up, I never abandoned this passion. After obtaining my diploma as a Surveyor, I decided to pursue my artistic inclination, which I had already begun to cultivate at the academy of Master Pollacci. I enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and graduated in Painting and Visual Arts with great satisfaction.
